    Mission Statement

    The primary mission of Sonoma Valley Adult School is to serve the Valley's adults with free literacy and high school diploma programs, older adults and adults with disabilities programs, as well as low cost career and technical education, and high interest lifelong learning courses. It is the Adult School's purpose to be sensitive to the community's educational needs, and to be responsive, accessible and inclusive.

    Equal Opportunity Non-Discrimination Statement: The SonomaValley Unfied School District Governing Board prohibits unlawful discrimination against and/or harassment of district employees and job applicants on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, gender, sex or sexual orientation at any district site and/or activity.  The Board also prohibits retaliation against any district employee or job applicant who complains, testifies or in any way participates in the district's complaint procedures instituted pursuant to this policy. 

    Complaint Procedures: The Sonoma Valley Adult School recognizes its responsibility to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing educational programs and activities. Therefore, in accordance with state guidelines, the Sonoma Valley Adult School has adopted Uniform Complaint Procedures, which shall be followed when addressing complaints alleging unlawful discrimination, harassment, or failure to comply with state, and federal laws related to adult basic education programs. A copy of the Uniform Complaint Procedure may be obtained from the Adult Education Office. 933-4033.

    Non-Smoking Policy:Smoking and/or use of any tobacco product is strictly prohibited within any District site, during school sponsored activities. The non-smoking policy was established on July 1, 1994, and is applicable in buildings, on grounds, and in any building in which services are provided by employees of the School District (California Education Code 489001) and board policy.

    Sexual Harassment: Sexual harassment of or by any employee or of or by any student shall not be allowed. Sexual harassment is prohibited by the Sonoma Valley Unified School District and may result in disciplinary action to the offending employee or student. Sexual harassment means unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature made by someone under any of the conditions delineated in Ed Code 2125. An individual or group feeling subjected to sexual harassment should directly inform the offending person/persons that such conduct must stop. Any conduct of a sexual nature following such notice may be determined to be sexual harassment. The district will take appropriate action to protect the reporting individual or group retaliation or other forms of harassment.
