    The High School Diploma

    Our program is Open-Entry, so you may start anytime. Two types of instruction are available for completing your HS Diploma:

    Classroom Study:

  • ·         Finish your assignments at the school lab.

    ·         Work with a teacher during class time.

    ·         Complete all requirements for your diploma.

    Lab hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 9:30 PM

    Teacher office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays by appointment

    Independent Study:

    ·         Work at home on your own time.

    ·         Meet with your teacher once per week, for an individual, personal appointment.

    ·         Complete all requirements for your diploma.

    Independent Study is by appointment only

    Concurrent Enrollment for High School Students:

    ·         High School students seeking “make-up” credit may enroll concurrently in the adult school after meeting with a high school counselor and parent/guardian to obtain a release form.

    A limited number of enrollees are allowed so call our office for authorization prior to obtaining a release form.

    How to enroll:

    Call 933-4033 for a counseling appointment and registration date.  Enrollment is scheduled monthly at SVAS on the Sonoma Valley High School Campus in room L-3

    Curriculum Requirements for Sonoma Valley Adult School Diploma:

     

  • English 40 Credits
    Math(Algebra) 10/10 Credits
    Life Science 10 Credits
    Physical Science 10 Credits
    World History 10 Credits
    U.S. History 10 Credits
    Civics 5 Credits
    Economics 5 Credits
    Foreign Language/Fine Arts 10 Credits
    Keyboarding 5 Credits
    Electives (Includes 20 points in career) 70 Credits
    Total: 195 Credits

    Completion of both the CASAS Pre and Post test (adult school entry and exit exams)

    Must pass both sections of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

    Tuesday, November 4, 2008 (Language Arts exam)

    Wednesday, November 5, 2008 (Math exam)

    Tuesday, March 17, 2009 (Language Arts exam)

    Wednesday, March 18, 2009 (Math exam)

    Students must be enrolled in the HS Diploma class to be eligible to take the exams.

     

    General Education Development (GED)

    GED Test Preparation

    Students interested in preparing for the General Education Development (GED) test, may do so at SVAS. Assessment tests, skill building materials, and pretests are available. Call, 933-4033 to set up a registration appointment. Lab hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 9:30 PM.  Teacher office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays by appointment

    Adult Reading and Basic Literacy Lab

    Do you need to improve your basic reading, writing and math skills? This class can help.

    FREE, No Registration Fee!

    This class may also be taken while enrolled in the High School Diploma or GED class.

    Lab hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 9:30 PM
